As our sweet boy quickly approaches 2 and half, I realize how little I have documented lately. It's so easy to keep track when I'm doing the monthly updates, but I stopped that when he turned two. While they stop changing quite as quickly at this age, there are still so many new things every day! So it's due time...for an update on the Meyer man.
We had his two year pictures taken back in November and as always, I love them all. I couldn't really pick and choose which to share, so here is a "whole bunch" (as Meyer would say) for your viewing pleasure. Thank you Alisann @ Captured Studios for again capturing our sweet boy...perfectly!
Our Meyer man...one of a kind...that's for sure! He knows what he likes and what he doesn't like...things have to be "just so" or his world seems to crumble around him. I think he spends way too much time with his momma because he has definitely taken on my OCD tendencies. His bedtime routine is so complicated these days that we are terrified to have a babysitter even attempt to put him to bed! Sound machines (yes that's plural)...nightlights (also plural)...two blankets in a particular order wrapped around him "burrito" style...with a song that goes with it (yes I said burrito song)...and goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite! Oh...and "nee nee" and paci (yes he still has his paci).
I swear, this boy gets smarter by the second. He is honest to goodness unlike any two year old you will ever meet. Meyer is THE question master...we repeat this scenario a million times a day.
Meyer: "What's that?"
Mommy: "It's a "X"!
Meyer: "What's an "X" DO?"
...and I tell him...honestly...we chat about it...and then...
Meyer: "Mommy can tell you bout that again!"
...and repeat until he gets it and he NEVER forgets!
After Meyer FINALLY got well after weeks and weeks of respiratory gunk and back to back ear infections...he had a few short weeks of being healthy (thank goodness these were Hadley's first weeks). Then the poor guy was hit with the flu...GI flu...for the first time. Vomiting...diarrhea...the works. He had no idea what was "happening to me" and it broke my heart, but we survived and he's back to his happy and healthy self.
Oh! Here is a funny thing. Remember above how I was saying how smart Meyer is? Smartest kid I know right? He knows everything I swear...expect his ABCs and 123s! This kid can tell you how an engine works but cannot and will not for the life of him...learn his letters and numbers. He can sing the alphabet and count to 15 at least but ask him to recognize these...nope...none...not a single one! I'm totally not concerned by this, but do think it's very odd!
Let's talk about the big boy stuff...
Paci? Still going strong...
Potty? Nope...no way...won't even look at one.
Big boy bed? Talks about it...wants it...mommy and daddy too scared. Not yet little man! We need to keep you contained a bit longer.
Meyer is still LOVING school twice a week. I wish he could go more...not for me...for him...he loves it that much and was SO happy to get back to his routine after Christmas break. Our new goal is to have him potty trained by August so he can start preschool early.
As most of you know, we have added a new family member since I last time I did a Meyer update. While the beginning was a bit rocky due to a combination of losing the "only child" status, the holidays, being sick for weeks and just being two...things have greatly improved. Meyer LOVES his "baby sissy" and is so sweet with her....always wanting to kiss and hug her and help mommy burp her. I'm so proud of how well he has adapted to life with his sister and am so looking forward to seeing them grow up together.
There is so much more to say about Meyer, but I won't continue the novel at this time.
I recently came across a great idea from another mommy blogger...a toddler confessional if you will! We are waiting to capture Meyer in the best of moods to video his confessional...so stay tuned.
Meyer, at 2 years and almost 4 months, you are still mommy's SWEET little guy. Your personality is developing more and more with each passing day and I'm so proud of you. Smart...kind...heart of gold...and let's not forget the most handsome little boy in THE world! I love you to the moon and back big boy:)
