If you know us at all, you know we LOVE to travel. We have been fortunate enough to have been able to travel all over the world. Together we have been to Bermuda, Bahamas, Mexico, London, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Dubai and The Maldives. This all being before kids of course. We knew our traveling would change tremendously after kids, but we also knew we didn't want it to end. We have taken Meyer on a handful of trips and he has seemed to love traveling just as much as we do. Would Hadley feel the same? Why not find out!
This was the scene at our house several weeks ago before we ventured off on our first trip as a family of four!

At a mere 7.5 weeks, this was Hadley's first flight! How did she handle it? She didn't even notice...slept the entire journey! She opened her eyes briefly in Atlanta to eat and then not again until we arrived in DC. Wouldn't it be nice to close your eyes in one city and then magically wake up in another?!?
This was Meyer's first flight having his own seat! He loved it, but had a little bit of a hard time understanding why he couldn't sit on our laps.
His main concern was the safety plan.
That is until he passed out 30 seconds into the flight and stayed that way until after touch down!
It ended up being quite a pleasant flight for the grown ups. I even wished I had my Kindle because I could have got some serious reading done. Instead...I resorted to using Meyer's V-Tech headphones to listen to to music on my phone. Don't you wish I had a picture of that?
Hot stuff got to ride the Metro into DC with PopPop and the boys!
After an uneventful (thank goodness) journey we had finally arrived in DC...to visit our favorite Aunt May May and Uncle Andy!
We had a kid friendly dinner at this great BBQ place and then just hung out at Megan and Andy's condo. Meyer was completely convinced that DC was actually their condo. He kept asking at dinner if we could go back to DC now!
We stayed in a hotel only 2 doors down from their place which was super convenient. Meyer slept in a big bed for the first time and was oh so excited about staying in a hotel. Total mommy fail at forgetting to bring his swim trunks! How cool was swimming in hotel pools as a kid?!? Maybe next time...
...and who needs toys when you have the hotel phone and a totally awesome window seat!
(Rockin the bedhead, dude!)
He could actually see Meg and Andy's balcony from this spot!
After a delicious breakfast thanks to the wonderful hosts...
It was off to the museums...another first for Meyer! First we went to the Museum of Natural History to see the dino bones, but by far Meyer's favorite was the GINORMOUS elephant. We attempted to show him everything but he was insistent that we keep going back to visit the elephant.
I think daddy was having JUST as much fun!
I think Meyer was pretty impressed overall given the thumbs up!
Hadley on the other hand...not so much!
We then braved the cold again and headed off to museum #2...
It was cold and windy and Meyer wasn't sure about these conditions...at one point he was inside of PopPop's jacket! His mother's son I tell you:)
The Air & Space Museum was also a hit for Meyer. The only trouble was he didn't quite understand why he couldn't touch everything!
All of these activities wore little man right out....
The girl's shopped the rest of the day while the boys napped. The big boys went to the Cap's game that night and the girls and kiddos had reservations at Carmine's. Well after the big day we had...we made the decision to get in our jammies...snuggle...and get Carmine's delivery instead. BEST.DECISION.EVER.
Sunday morning we had a fabulous breakfast, courtesy of Andy and Meg, and then we were off again!
Both kids snoozed right through the flights again!
...and that's all folks!
A wonderful visit to DC! We hope to make it out again soon!

Sounds like you got really lucky with your first flight with both kids. Super cute pictures, looks like you had a great time
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip! I am so jealous of your perfect flights with two kids! We are going on vacation in a few months and I am so nervous to fly with Aubrey!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they did so well. Next time, hopefully I will be in DC again too and we can meet up :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!! I'm thinking as much time as my kids have spent in a car, a flight would be easy peasy to them! With that said, keeping Connor to stay in his seat would probably be a pretty big challenge! Glad everything went so well!!
ReplyDeleteI mean how awesome are your travelers? I'm so glad you had a great time...and that the kiddos did great!
ReplyDeleteAw I am jealous I have SUCH a travel bug right now! Your post gave me motivation that we can do it with two kiddos too :) So glad they were good on the flights! What a fun time! Oh yeah I just started instagram and will look for you....I am kristinnr81!
