Here we are again...another month has passed us by! Every day just gets better and better. I watch in amazement as my sweet little thing grows and develops.
Our sweet Hadley Rose is THREE months old!
(3.18.2013)
I think it's safe to say that the "newborn" period is officially over. It seemed to last a little longer with sister, possibly because she was 3 weeks early. This month she has woken up from her newborn slumber. She is awake a lot more and we are starting to see her little personality come out. H is a very happy and content baby. She only cries and fusses when she is hungry, wants a change of scenery or tired. When girlfriend is tired...you better watch out!
We are starting to figure out her likes and dislikes.
Hadley loves...
-The sound of the Swiffer Sweeper
-The Baby Bjorne
-Sleeping on her belly for naps
-Talking to Daddy
-The playmat (batting at her toys)
-Waking up in the morning and stretching out
-Bathtime
-Buzzing bee noises
Hadley hates...
-Being in her carseat if she's not asleep or ready to fall asleep
-Having her nose sucked out
-Loud sudden noises
-Mommy with a towel on her head
Sleep
Still a champion sleeper just like her brother was. This month she started going to bed early and it's been glorious. At 9.5 weeks she began sleeping from 8pm-7am. She now goes to bed as early as 7:30pm and will sleep until 7am. God has blessed us with some wonderful sleepers...and for this...I am thankful!
We haven't quite figured out a solid nap schedule just yet. We are on the go quite a bit in the mornings, so she naps in her carseat a lot. On the days we are home, she is ready for a nap about an hour after she wakes up and will sleep anywhere from 1-2 hours. She usually gets another cat nap mid day and then takes a nice long afternoon nap...right along with her brother! Typically she sneaks in another quick nap in the evening (if we are lucky, it's during dinner time).
Eating
Exclusively breastfed and eats every 3-4 hours during the day. We had a bit of a growth spurt last week where she was wanting to eat every 2 hours, but things have gone back to normal. She hasn't had a feeding during the night since 5 weeks old. Let's hope it stays that way!
She very rarely gets a bottle of pumped milk, but I have noticed that when she does, she's not the best at it. She has a hard time getting proper suction and needs her cheeks squeezed a bit to help. I need to start offering her bottles more frequently to help her practice and get better about it. It's just not convenient when I'm home with her all day. If I give her a bottle...I have to pump...and I HATE pumping! I have serious anxiety about getting a babysitter for both kids because I'm afraid she won't eat if they don't know how to feed her! I can get pretty much any baby to take a bottle because it's what I used to do, but it takes practice to work with them and it can be stressful if you aren't used to it. I don't want to scare our sitters away!
Let's talk about her pooping tendencies for a moment. They are non existent. This girl will NOT poop on her own most of the time. She is known to go a week without one...and will then only have one with a suppository. The doctors have reassured me this is normal for a breastfed baby. We spend our days massaging her belly and bicycling her legs trying to help a girl out, but usually it does no good. After about 3 or 4 days she gets so gassy and I'm not kidding...stinks...to the high heavens. Poor stinky little thing. Hopefully this works itself out soon!
I love this picture because it really shows off her sandy blonde fuzz head! Sister has some crazy hair! I'm thinking she might be a blonde given how much lighter she is compared to Meyer when he was a baby. Her eyelashes and eyebrows are much lighter too. Time will tell. She's definitely still blued eyed as well.
At 3 months on our home scale, H is weighing in at exactly 11 pounds!
-Size 1 diapers
-0-3 month and 3 month clothes
Hadley gives more and more smiles everyday...especially to her daddy! She wants to talk SO badly and is just beginning to discover her voice. I seriously melt every single time I hear that sweet voice cooing back at me. Just yesterday, on her 3 month birthday, I was trying to get a video of her "talking" when IT happened...SHE LAUGHED OUT LOUD...for the very first time! I can't believe I caught it on video...cutest thing ever!

She is getting pretty good at tummy time these days. Surprisingly, she doesn't hate it! I wouldn't say she loves it either, but a willing participant on most days.

ReplyDeleteHappy 3 months Miss Hadley! I cant believe she's already 3 months, our babies are just growing way to fast {Kendall will be 5 months on the 27th} Kendall doesn't like sudden loud noises either, it makes her cry. She sounds like she's doing great! Those first baby giggles are the best. I remember when each of my girls did it.
ReplyDeleteHappy 3 months Hadley! Aren't baby laughs the BEST?! Love, love it when my H gives a big ole belly laugh. :-)
