After a miserably failed attempt at summer indoor soccer, I was a little hesitant when receiving soccer info for Meyer's preschool this year. Should we do it? I honestly didn't debate long. Andy and I both being ex-soccer players, I couldn't resist. Especially after reading that tiny shin guards were required. I mean that is a no brainer. How could I pass up the opportunity to see this?
We played it up by telling him it was outdoor this time and he would like it much better. He seemed very excited for his first practice, so we were hopeful!
Of course, his daddy was right by his side the whole time.
...and to our surprise, he kind of loved it!
Most of the time, completely uninterested in actually kicking the ball, but having fun nonetheless.
He's still a bit confused as to why he can't pick the ball up with his hands.
...and isn't quite sure why it's ok to take the ball away from people. It's a GAME son!
They all need frequent pep talks and water breaks to keep their attention.
I think H paid more attention than the entire team combined!
We were so excited for his first game. It was utter chaos the entire time, which was highly entertaining, and Meyer could be found doing all kinds of things....all having nothing to do with the game of soccer. HA!
He spent the majority of the game playing in the goal....
Rolling in the grass...
...and wondering when the next water break would roll around.
At least he was entertaining the crowd!
Overall, he DID have a GREAT time and that's all that matters. I'm so glad we decided to give soccer a go, mainly because of this picture!
