I've never done a year review post, but I've always wanted to, so this is the year!
2013 was good to us...
In January, we were just settling in to life with two. Getting to know our sweet girl and watching Meyer adjust to being the big brother. We had our first round of sickies for the year with the stomach flu for 3 out of the 4 of us. Challenging with a 3 week old, but thankfully she remained healthy. We were also blessed with Hadley's sweet first smiles!
February brought bravery as we took our first flight as a family of 4 to Washington, DC. Hadley was just 7 weeks old, but we were desperate for some family time. Meyer made an easy transition to his toddler bed and we celebrated Valentine's Day with our little loves!
March, oh March was a big one. We tackled potty training with the 3-day Potty Party! Meyer rocked its socks off and hasn't turned back. We also started seeing a few signs of spring.
May brought warmer weather, summer socials, visits to the zoo, and playdates with friends and the kickoff to swimming season! I had my first Mother's Day as a mommy of two. May also brought the beginning of a very long battle with Hadley and sleepless nights…sleep deprived and desperate!
With June came my little brother's wedding, where Meyer was the ring bearer. We took a family vacation to Amelia Island. Hadley and Mommy took a girl's trip to California for cousin Amelia's graduation weekend. We road tripped to St. Louis for a little zoo action and Hadley tried solid food for the first time.
In July, Hadley mastered sitting up like a big girl and I shared her birth-6 month video! Meyer said a sad goodbye to his first school and his beloved Ms. Kathy. We celebrated the 4th of July and took an adults only trip up to the cabin with friends. To round off the month, we found out we were having a nephew with a FaceTime gender reveal!
August took us to Meyer's first day of Preschool at Totten Hall and a last family vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC. I celebrated my 29th birthday and Andy and I celebrated 5 years of marriage! I had a little man baby shower for my sister, Meg! We also welcomed Miss Etta Marie into our friend family.
September was full of soccer games and first field trips. Meyer transitioned seamlessly again to his real big boy bed and sister finally decided to let us start sleeping all night again…praise the lord! I also made my first blog book.
October was busy busy, with Meyer turning 3 and having his Hungry Caterpillar party. We visited the pumpkin patch and had a great Halloween. Mommy and Daddy traveled to The Greenbrier to celebrate Mimi's birthday and we took a family road trip to watch the Irish play at Notre Dame.
November brought the March of Dime's Signature Chef's Auction and Meyer's first style show…all here. We took the bigger kids to the Polar Express. We celebrated Thanksgiving and made our annual visit to the circus!
December came so fast and we were celebrating Hadley turning 1 year old! Our nephew Oliver also turned 1 and our nephew Max arrived. A big month of birthdays! We had our first BIG snow of the winter and were stuck in our house for about 24 hours unable to get our cars up the driveway. We of course had a wonderful Christmas with way too many blessings to count!
December has come with a few health challenges around here. I was hit with a very large kidney stone in early December followed by some downright unbearable back pain. Amped up on steroids and finally feeling relief…we were all hit with the sickies. Right at the wire, we finished off 2013 with fevers, nasty coughs and the snots. Mine turned into sever bronchitis and the kids followed with ear infections all around. Our last day of 2013 was one for the record books, but today we are moving on…the bad days come with good.
It's time for a HEALTHY 2014!
We are so thankful for this wonderful year and feel truly blessed.
